Christmas Shopping, Last Minute…

December 23 rd . Went to the mall for Christmas shopping today. It is two days to Christmas, so not last minute, I’d like to think. After spending 10 minutes on the expressway, the traffic slowed to a crawl nearing the cxit. This took about 15 minutes. Then to find parking another 15 minutes. Finally, an open space in all the traffic. Did not matter where I was parking, I knew I was going to walk around the mall store by store. Now to get to the stores. My phone counts steps. So far at 1500. Made a stop at Home Depot. Need to mow the lawn after shopping, depending on energy level. First stop Macy’s, first floor found perfume for wife. Nothing for daughter. Second floor nothing interesting. Third floor men’s shop. Cologne, wife will get that for me, hopefully the one that comes with the free watch. Leaving Macy’s at 2300 steps. Walking through the mall, people all over looking for gifts like I am. One lady was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, did not know if I missed the cont...

It is Rigged!!! or is it?

It is rigged!!! The election is rigged! This is the new argument that Donald Trump is presenting to his supporters. Elections are shaped by political ads and media every year. This is how politics work and have worked in the United States and other countries. This Presidential Election is not different yet it is different. Political ads are all over the media and the News media is placing the usual biases in their reporting depend on the Network. Social media is different; the internet is different. How messages are delivered to supporters is different. The main difference that I have noticed, how supporters are taking in the news, media and the messages sent by their candidates. The system is rigged or biased, like usual. The key is how each candidate is using the system to get out their message. Check the sources of your messages this election year and go vote.

Super Bowl

It is Super Bowl Sunday. An unofficial end to the Holiday Season for some. It is the time that we see the newest commercials for television. It is a time to get a great deal on an HDTV is you need one. It is the time for putting the New Year’s diet on hold for a day.  It is also the time for a football game, oh yeah, that is what today is all about or use to be. It is now the day of the Puppy Bowl and the Kitten Bowl. It is a day for Hollywood and Advertising. It is a day for Beer Companies and Chicken Wings, oh and Pizza.  By the way, there still is a football game to be play by men who have dreamed of this game for most of their lives. The 120 or so men on both teams are in the middle of the best dream. They are playing in the Super Bowl and the winner will be the Champions of the NFL. World Champions! Enjoy the game, be safe and don’t forget, one of these men get to say “I’m going to Disney World!” tonight.

American Sniper: Hero, Patriot or just big money for Hollywood?

The movie American Sniper is #1 at the box office once again. It aims to portray the effect war has on individuals and families. The reviews and audience reaction are good. What is not good is the debate over where the main character is a patriot or a psychotic killer. Some in Hollywood have express the dislike for the film, like Michael Moore and Seth Rogen, saying that Chris Kyle was just a coward and a murderer. Others have countered this argument with Kyle begin a war hero, Sarah Palin and all at Fox News. The director, Clint Eastwood, says he wanted to present how war is difficult it is for soldiers and families. The film is based on a true story, the film does not aim to be a true story of Chris Kyle. If that was the case, Chris Kyle’s book tour and his encounter with former Minnesota Governor, Jesse Ventura would have been presented. Actually, that encounter was redacted from the book because it did not happen. In all of debate, the movie studio continues to make money ...
I went shopping at Wal-Mart and another grocery store. They have decorated for Christmas and show very little trace if any of Thanksgiving. I remember when this was an important holiday to give thanks, an important part of the History of the United States. Now it feels like it is the day to get ready to go shopping on Black Friday. Some stores are now opening on Thursday evening. Thanksgiving has been hi-jacked by corporate America. I have no issue with people make money, just not on this day. Of course, it would be good if United States Citizens would honor this day as it was so long ago. So much for the Great American Holiday, I just hope I can get a good deal on a television.
